Texas State University is a school which is often brushed aside when discussing academic history. Larger, older campus’ surrounding San Marcos often take the spotlight and run with it. But his small, expanding city with over 30,000 students for the 2014-2015 school year has many hidden gems in the College of Fine Arts and Communication.

The Dance Division is turning 50 this year. Many students, dance majors included, are taken back by this number; they aren’t constantly reminded every year of its past because they are most focused on the present, today. Still, it is important to acknowledge this incredible dancing history, this golden jubilee of Hawkins inspired dance movers, makers, and teachers.
